Blue Coat becomes an Academy

Blue Coat Church Of England School and Music College becomes an Academy

"We are delighted to announce that Blue Coat School gains Academy Status from 12 July 2011"

Becoming an Academy will sustain and develop the religious character and ethos of Blue Coat School and the school will remain committed to improving the quality of teaching, learning and attainment and safeguarding the well-being of children. The school will continue to be committed to the wider family of church schools and to develop the relationship it already has with local, national and international churches.

C
ore Christian beliefs of love, respect, forgiveness, humility, peace, justice, reconciliation and care for others creates an ethos with a strong sense of moral purpose and direction, which in turn drives achievement and personal development. As an Academy we will be able to extend the support we offer to students and families, on their journey through childhood to adulthood by enhancing our provision of extended services and pastoral care, guidance and support which offer the best possible help and advice.

Blue Coat Church Of England School and Music College is an outstanding school because it cares; staff and Governors care about the welfare and academic progress of our students. We care about our students’ education, their skills, their partnerships with others and about giving all children the opportunity to express their faith and grow spiritually and morally within a nurturing environment. We care about our whole community and give a great deal of our valuable time, resources and commitment to others both through the school partnerships at local, national and international level and through various charities and innovative partnerships external to the school. We look to continually build upon this and to extend our network further to enhance the opportunities for Blue Coat students and our whole community.
