Celebrating Excellence at Blue Coat Prizegiving 2026

Last night, Blue Coat CofE School came together to celebrate another unforgettable Prizegiving, recognising the incredible achievements, talents and contributions of our students.

The evening began with a drinks reception in the sunshine, where guests enjoyed refreshments kindly provided by our catering partner, Angel Hill Catering, before making their way into our beautifully decorated theatre. As guests arrived, they were welcomed by performances from our talented student musicians, setting the tone for a truly special evening.

Our hosts, Mrs Wright and Mr Tomlinson, opened the ceremony before welcoming the Right Worshipful the Lord Mayor of Coventry, Councillor Roger Bailey, who presented our House Awards for demonstrating our CHRIST Values, along with the Vision Award.

We were then delighted to welcome Lady Godiva, Pru Porretta MBE, who presented our Subject Awards, recognising the outstanding academic achievements of students across the curriculum.

One of the evening's most special moments came as student Evie Marie Commander reflected on her seven years at Blue Coat, sharing memories and experiences that captured what makes our school community so special.

Lisa Karan then delivered a breathtaking performance of The Goodness of God. Two years ago, Lisa's performance of the song at Prizegiving inspired it to become our school song. Returning to perform it one final time before leaving Blue Coat, she may have saved the best for last...

We were also incredibly privileged to welcome Musharaf, widely recognised for his inspiring journey on Educating Yorkshire. Musharaf shared his powerful story of overcoming a significant speech impediment, leaving everyone in the theatre inspired by his resilience, determination and courage. He then presented our Key Stage 5 Subject Awards.

Following another fantastic student performance of Angels, the ceremony continued with our Special Awards. Gemma Hathaway, Senior Assistant Headteacher and EDI and Personal Development Lead for Inspire Education Trust, presented our Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Awards. Mrs Wright then presented our School Community Award and Living Life in All its Fullness Awards.

Lois Whitehouse, CEO of Inspire Education Trust, presented the Inspire Education Trust Outstanding Student Award, before Rob Darling, Deputy CEO awarded the prestigious Bishop Sophie Jelley Cup.

The evening concluded with Mrs Wright presenting the Headteacher's Award, providing a fitting and emotional end to a celebration of excellence, character and service. Followed by a lovely blessing by Reverend Canon Richard Hibbert.

Congratulations to every single one of our award winners. Your hard work, commitment and compassion make Blue Coat the special community that it is.

A huge thank you goes to everyone who worked so hard behind the scenes to make the evening such a success, especially our events team, student performers and volunteers. Finally, we would like to thank our generous sponsors, whose continued support makes this celebration possible each year.
